An 18-year-old accused of robbing a man of his car has been granted $150,000 bail with his father standing as surety.
He appeared before a Master of the High Court this week charged with robbery with violence, malicious damage, and interfering with a motor vehicle. He was not called upon to plead.
As part of his bail conditions, the teenager must report to the Sangre Grande Police Station twice weekly between 6 am and 6 pm, live at a fixed address in the district, and observe a 9 pm to 5 am curfew.
The charges stem from an incident on September 11 when a man, who was plying his car for hire, picked up three passengers. He told the court that the men announced a robbery, placed him in a headlock, forced him out of the vehicle, and then drove away with it.
The matter was transferred to the Sangre Grande Magistrates’ Court and adjourned to October 15.
